Kelly Milner Halls is coming to Maywood Hills on March 20th. She is the author of Tales of the Cryptids, Dinosaur Parade, In Search of SasquatchSaving the Baghdad Zoo, and MANY more books. We have copies of several of her titles in the library. Kelly will be sharing her "Wonders of Weird" Presentation, where she will tell us how she researches for her books and give us tips for our own writing. Be prepared for Sasquatch footprints and dinosaur droppings! You will probably have an opportunity to purchase copies of her books and have her sign them. If you want to learn more about Kelly, check out her website!

Did you know January 20th is Penguin Awareness Day? I didn't either, until I read about it on the lunch menu! In honor of Penguin Awareness Day, our current Penguin-friendly weather, and Pierre the Penguin by Megan McCarthy, which is one of our Washington Children's Choice award nominees, I have attached some kid-friendly penguin websites.  Enjoy the penguins!

Don't forget to stop by the Fall Scholastic Bookfair during the Maywood Hills BBQ on September 9. We could use help setting up the bookfair after school September 7, and it will be open to preview on September 8. Purchases can be made all day September 9th, and it would be great to have some help with check out. NEW this year is the online purchase option. If you can't make it to the bookfair or you don't find what you need, check out the online selection - and Maywood Hills students will benefit from your purchase. If you'd like to help with bookfair, email Mrs. Huizenga:
