In December we have had a number of children with head lice at Kokanee. This nuisance bug

is not welcome at school as it can be passed to others.  Please check your children’s

heads weekly at home. Encourage your children not to share hats, helmets, headbands,

and hair grooming tools. If you find lice or nits, treat, remove all nits and inform the school

and your day care. Children must be cleared through the health room before returning to

school  (parent brings child to school and waits for him to be cleared for class).  Winter

break is a good time to thoroughly check your children’s heads in addition to the

 recommended weekly inspections.

If you have questions about how to check for and identify head lice or treat an infestation,

please do not hesitate to contact the health room.
